Spot planets in the park with astronomy buffs

AMATEUR astronomers are invited to join the experts for a spot of planet-spotting.

Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society (MSAS) will host the seventh Planets in the Park event at Clifton Park on Saturday, February 17.

The enthusiasts will bring telescopes and point out exciting space phenomena from 6pm.

They will also help anyone with their own instruments to set them up in the park’s walled garden.

There will also be space presentations and displays, to complement the night sky observations.

The event has been organised in conjunction with the Friends of Clifton Park.

Chairwoman Elaine Humphries said: “We’ve had a very good response to the event, in the past.

“We’re hoping for a nice clear night.”
