Ian said: “Helping out at this centre are an incredible group of volunteers, our friends, all who are partially sighted, and part of the influence for writing the play was from me wanting to provide a show that they could enjoy and be a part of in full.

“It's this section of society that I would like to encorage to go to the theatre. They all get the Advertiser news from the Rotherham Talking Newspaper.”

Essence of Horne is a radio programme in two halves based very loosely around Round the Horne from the 60s.

It is a completely original script written with the rhythm and influence of Round the Horne and adapted to give an echo of a simpler time.

Performances will be taped. Audiences will be offered a recording included in the ticket price of £6.

Ian added: “Venue is the Little Theatre in Doncaster and, again, we have a cross section of amateur and professional actors from the area performing it for nothing.

“I'm particularly grateful to Tim Rutherford and Steve Morrell  for finding time to do the show.

Tim is appearing in Brigadoon at Rotherham Civic Theatre the following week with  Greasbrough Operatic Society and Steve has fitted us in around his other acting commitments and a NODA weekend in Bridlington that he came back early from.”

Tickets can be booked on 01302 340422.
