Rotherham's urban music talent to be celebrated

BRITAIN’S Got Talent semi-finalists Ice will headline a celebration of local urban musical talent.

The dance troupe top an 18-strong line-up of acts who will perform at Liquid Nightclub as part of Rotherham’s Urban Spotlight.

Ben Wheeler, of organisers Drunken Boy Records, said: “This will be the third year we've put on Urban Spotlight and the first time that it has been held at a major nightclub.

“It means the local acts we’ve got will have the chance to perform for a larger audience in a high-profile venue.

“We are also planning on presenting various awards on the night, for example to the artists who go down best with the crowd and who have sold the most tickets.”

Also on the bill for Saturday, July 3, are Jason Quainoo, J-Jay and Roly, Nem, Demo and G-Dott.

Urban Spotlight has been held at smaller venues in the past, but managed to pull in crowds of up to 300.

Doors will open at 6pm and entry is £7 on the door or £5 in advance.

Anyone over 14 is welcome to the event, but those under 18 will be asked to leave after the event finished at 10.30pm, after which Liquid’s Saturday night will continue as usual.
