Rotherham parks host conker championships

Three of the town’s country parks will be hosting this year’s Grand Conker championships, organised by Rotherham Borough Council’s park rangers.

The event will take place between 1.30 and 3pm on Sunday at Ulley and Thrybergh Country Parks and Greasbrough Park.

There will be different age categories at all venues and in the interests of fairness, all conkers will be provided by Rotherham Borough Council Rangers.

Prizes will be available to the winners of each age group along with the title of Grand Conker Champion.

This is the first event being held at Ulley Country Park since it re-opened at the end of August. It is hoped that it will become an annual competition at the park.

It will be supported by The Friends of Ulley Country Park who will be putting on refreshments in the main visitor centre.
