Rotherham Hospital charity supporters spring into action for seasonal fair

A SPRING fair will raise funds for end-of-life care facilities at Rotherham Hospital.

The craft event, to be held at the hospital on March 20, will support Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity's Purple Butterfly Appeal.

Volunteers will staff stalls between 10am and 1pm, selling handicrafts and home baking to fund the suite for terminal patients.

The charity is still seeking keen cooks and amateur artisans to contribute their skills, as well as donations of Easter eggs for young patients.

Gabby Atmarow, chair of the charitable funds committee, said: “We had such a wonderful time at the charity’s Christmas Fair, with members of the public, volunteers and fundraisers raising more than £800.

"Our amazing volunteers and colleagues from Unison Rotherham have already pledged to sell home-made cakes, crafts, woolly baby blankets, crafts and books — but the more the merrier.”

Community growers Rotherham In Root will also sell sunflower seedlings and purple-hued flowers and vegetables, while crafter Zoe Green will peddle perfect artisan gifts.

The Purple Butterfly Appeal raises money to fund Purple Butterfly rooms, which provide privacy, dignity and space for patients, their families, friends and carers.
