Cancer Research UK held its Pretty Muddy and Race for Life events at Rother Valley Country Park on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with more than 2,800 signed up and fundraising officials eyeing a £175,000 target for the two days.

Event Manager Emma Colbourne said: “This figure relies on people sending in their sponsorship money but it will make a real difference.

“We have several Races for Life around the country and the next up for South Yorkshire is at Meadowhall on Sunday, July 9.

“It is great that people keep supporting us year after year but it’s vital that they do and that more sign up because cancer isn’t going anywhere.”
