Paw Patrol stars at town’s Christmas lights switch-on

THE stars of children’s TV hit Paw Patrol will be the special guests at a town’s Christmas lights switch-on.

The four-legged team of little heroes will be at Barnsley Town Hall on Wednesday for the big switch-on and a firework display.

Entertainment starts at 5pm and the lights go on at 6pm.

Cllr Roy Miller, Barnsley Council’s Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “The annual lights-switch on is always a great event for the family to enjoy together.

“As usual there will be some fantastic entertainment and it is a great opportunity for people to start their Christmas shopping.”

Drivers are advised that there will be some road closures on the day to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Roads affected from 10am to 10pm include Church Street from St Mary’s Gate to its junction with Market Hill and Shambles Street; Regents Street to its junction with Eastgate and Sadler Gate.

From 4pm to 7pm, Church Street, Regent Street, Eastgate, Eldon Street, Market Hill, St Mary’s Place and Church Lane will all be affected, while Shambles Street and Westgate will be shut between 5.55pm and 6.15pm.

Some parking spaces will also be unavailable.
