Last year thousands of people ventured to the town centre to enjoy the fun-filled week and organisers are hoping for a similar turn out next month.

Cllr Amy Rushforth, Cabinet member for culture and tourism, said: “Rotherham-by-the-Sea has been bringing the beach to our town for over a decade now, and what an amazing time it has been.

“It’s incredible to think that more than 1,000 tonnes of sand have been used, thousands of ice creams sold and hundreds of sandcastles built, all in the name of fun.

“It takes over a day and ten tonnes of sand to transform All Saints’ Square into a mini-seaside resort, to be enjoyed by the thousands of people over the week-long event.

“It has become a real tradition in the town centre and Rotherham residents of all ages genuinely look forward to all the activities going on over the week and really joining in the seaside spirit.”
