Music teachers reunite for hospice concert

TWO former music teachers will reunite at their old school for a concert marking Rotherham Hospice’s 20th anniversary year.

Pat Bingham, conductor of Bramley Brass, and tuba player John Campbell will be back in tune together for a show at St Bernard’s High on Friday at 7pm.

John, whose wife Marylise died of cancer last year, is part of a group taking part in the hospice’s Big 20 sponsored cycle from London to Paris.

He set a target of £1,750 for the trip and he and Pat thought the concert would be a way of helping him on his way.

John said: “I spent five very happy years working with musicians from St Bernard’s, many of whom continue to play in Bramley Brass.

“It should be a marvellous evening full of nostalgia and wonderful memories, both music and personal.”

Marylise helped with the introductions between Rotherham and her home town of St Quentin in France before the places were twinned.

Tickets are £3 and can be booked via the school on 01709 828183. Some will be available at the door.
