Music charity Get Sorted closing after 25 years

A CHARITY in Rotherham which provides free music lessons has announced it is closing.

Get Sorted, based on Westgate, will shut its doors for the last time on July 21.

Executive director and founder Genya Johnson said in a statement: “This is a sad time for everyone.

“The environment in which Get Sorted operates has become increasingly difficult during the past few years.

“The trustees have not taken this decision lightly and, having considered several options over recent months, this was regrettably the only one left to take.

“Our aim is to continue all music lessons and activities as normal until the closing date and we would value your ongoing support over the next few difficult weeks.”

Ms Johnson said many students had formed “excellent” relationships with tutors, adding that many of the tutors hoped to continue with one-to-one lessons after the charity closed.

“For almost 25 years it has been my privilege to provide a unique and special place which has helped to change lives through music,” she said.

“From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank you for all your commitment and support over the years. Get Sorted would not have made it this far without you.”
