The smash-hit show In the Mood is coming to Rotherham’s Civic Theatre for an evening of fun-filled entertainment celebrating classic swing at its best.

The smash-hit show ‘In the Mood’ is coming to Rotherham’s Civic Theatre for an evening of fun-filled entertainment celebrating classic swing at its best.

 The feel good show pays tribute to this classic era with toe-tapping songs from stars such as Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra before bringing the audience right up-to-date with Jools Holland’s style of jazz and blues.

The shows producers, Five Star Swing, are widely recognised as one of the most versatile and accomplished Jazz and Swing bands in the UK. Their energetic show boasts stunning multi-instrumentalists and singers superbly led by Chris Smith.

Audiences will also be treated to a special guest on the night in the form of the hugely talented Simone, best known from the latter days of the Ivy Benson Orchestra.

Rotherham Theatres manager, Mark Scott, said: “Music shows are always incredibly popular here in Rotherham and none more so than the big band shows.

“Five Star Swing Productions always put on an excellent show, transporting audiences back to an era of uplifting hits that make you want to get up and dance!”

Since its birth in the 1930’s swing music has proved extremely popular across the world from the original big band maestros such as Louis Armstrong and the Dorsey Brothers, right through to the recent revival with some of today’s popular stars, including Robbie Williams and Christina Aguilera, releasing swing inspired albums which have gone on to sell millions of copies.e.
