HEALTH & WELLBEING: The NHS turns 70

As the NHS turns 70 on July 5 2018, I have been reflecting on my career of over 40 years serving the people of Rotherham in a range of roles within and associated with, healthcare.

Some of my best memories stem from working with my mother when we were both practicing as midwives at Moorgate and Doncaster Gate Hospitals. With my grandfather, both parents, me, my sister, eldest son and daughter in law all working in or having worked in the NHS, we have, between us, seen much change and progress and many more advanced treatments become available to us as we learn more and make new discoveries, with training reflecting this need for increased knowledge. I applaud all the dedicated and extraordinary staff and the vital role that the NHS plays in our lives day in and day out – long may it continue.
