Grapplers to raise money for Bradley Lowery

WRESTLING stars will smash and crash together to raise charity cash at a free bout for a brave five-year-old later this month.

Megaslam Wrestling champion Robbie McKenzie and friends will rock Eastwood View Working Men’s Club in aid of cancer fighter Bradley Lowery.

Little Bradley, from Hartlepool, has been fighting neuroblastoma since he was two and has made headlines recently since his favourite football club, Sunderland, and many others backed his family’s fund-raising appeal.

Last weekend he was a special guest at the Grand National in Liverpool.

Bradley’s family desperately raised funds to send Bradley to American for pioneering treatment but unfortunately he was told the illness was terminal.

They are now raising funds through the Bradley Lowery Foundation to help families going through a similar struggle.

Born in Rotherham eight years ago, Megaslam is now one of Europe’s top wrestling brands, hosting around 250 events every year.

Promoter Brad Taylor said he had heard about young Bradley while at a football match.

“I was shocked and upset to hear of the trials this poor young man has had to go through,” he said.

“I was determined to do my bit and help raise some money for him through Megaslam.

“We wanted to present the show in Rotherham as that is where we began and we don’t get much of a chance to bring the show here any more.”

Joining Robbie McKenzie will be former Megaslam champ CJ Banks, ring rival Danny Hudson and fighters from around Yorkshire.

Entry to the event is free and wrestlers will volunteer their time to take part, with attendees asked to give generously on the door.

Brad will be doubling donations taken on the door at the beat ‘em up bonanza.

The event takes place on Saturday, April 29, starting at 7pm. For tickets, see www.ticketsource.co.uk/megaslamwrestling.
