Darren Day to lead panto cast

Darren will headline Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The timeless classic is set to thrill thousands of panto fans when the curtains pull back for the first time on December 4 for a five-week run of fun.

And the signing—regarded as the biggest ever for panto in the town— is seen as a declaration that Rotherham’s festive production will be the best in South Yorkshire.

Theatres Manager, Mark Scott, said: “Although we’re only just getting into the warmer months, panto is on the lips of everyone here at the Civic.

“It’s such a big production that we have to start planning this early to make sure everything is ready for December.

“To secure a massive name like Darren Day, who you would usually expect to be treading the boards at large theatres, is a coup beyond our wildest dreams.

“In the past, he’s entertained royalty and stood in front of thousands as Joseph in the West End. Rotherham will love him.

“So far, more than 4,000 tickets have been sold for the show, that’s enough to sell the Civic out 11 times over.

“It's a magnificent response from our visitors and we promise to put on the show of the year for them. However, I’m expecting the figure to shoot up now

Darren has been announced as the star.

“At the moment, scripts are being prepared, auditions are being held for the supporting cast, music is being written and the theatre is being measured up for the sets, which should be some of the best we’ve ever had.

“Snow White is a classic tale that kids love and, thanks to a cheeky twist by Spillers, adults will have a great time too.

“Fingers crossed this will be our best selling show ever, with a full house night after night.

“But, if you want any special dates, such as Christmas week, you have to book now, they sell out very, very quickly.”

Accompanying Darren on stage for the panto will be Stephanie Dooley, who’ll be playing the title role of Snow White and, making a welcome return,
