SINGER Imogen Blue may have crashed out of the X Factor - but it certainly hasn’t been a bad week for her.
Imogen (27), of Kimberworth Park, failed to make it through the boot camp stage after performing Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
But after a report in The Sun newspaper incorrectly reported she had been chosen by judge Simon Cowell as a member of a new girl band, Imogen’s own hit Bitten Twice Shy was chosen as the soundtrack to an unnamed film, which will be released next year.
She said: “Considering my audition wasn’t shown, The Sun seem to have got me confused with another Imogen who was on the show.
“I woke up to the news that I was going to be in a girl band - it was all very bizarre.
“I just went along with it and one of my songs was chosen as the soundtrack for a film - it’s been a strange week.”
Imogen failed to make it through the boot camp stage of the X Factor after she sang the track in memory of her auntie’s partner Melvyn Hartland, who died earlier this year.
“It sounds daft but I went to see a psychic and she said she kept on hearing Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” Imogen said.
“It has always been my song so I sang it at boot camp and as I got to my high note I literally broke down.
“I tried to carry on, but it was a bit of a wobbly performance towards the end.”
Imogen said Melvyn, who used to run The Effingham Arms pub, was her “inspiration” after encouraging her to take to the mic on karaoke nights.
“After I’d finished singing Simon sat with his head in his hands and all of Wembley arena were chanting: ‘Put her through,” she added.
“But Nicole Scherzinger looked up and said: ‘I am sorry, you are going home.’
“I am keeping my options open and hope to release my first single by Christmas.”
