Dean, from Bolton on Dearne, is the star of comedy Up North.

He will be promoting the show — which is looking for funding for its second series, set to star Yorkshire comic Billy Pearce — with a screening of one episode from the first series at the Sheffield Showroom on Tuesday (June 20).

It will be screened in The Showroom Cinema’s Main Bar along with other short films as part of the monthly event Showroom Shorts.

The DVD of series one is now available on Amazon, while you can stream episodes on Amazon Online Video.

Dean said the show — voted one of the top five shows on cable channel Essex TV — was also being streamed in the USA, Germany and Japan.

The 49-year-old added: “I can’t believe the success of the show and what he has achieved with his good friend Steve Call at Steve Call Productions.

“I originally wrote Up North as a short film until Essex TV picked it up and commissioned a full series, which they also funded.

“Bernie Clifton is a regular in the cast and loves working on the show.

“Last year, we had so much fun on set working together.”

The DVD contains five episodes — Football Up North, Fishing Up North, Halloween Up North, Christmas Up North and Trouble Up North.

Dean, who writes the show himself, with Steve Call as director and editor, added: “Season two of Up North will go into production later in the year and will focus on new characters including Tom Thatch, played by Billy Pearce.”
