Calling all would-be Hollywood stars and Van Gogh wannabes...

YOUNG people will have the chance to sing, dance and act or draw, design and paint at a summer school next week — and there’s still time to sign up.

Budding actors will be challenged to practise and performance the junior musical masterpiece Matilda in one week or create their own exhibition to be displayed in a local art gallery.

It’s all part of the Rotherham College Junior Academy, which runs from next Monday to Thursday, from 10am to 3pm.

It costs £10 a day and will take place at Rotherham College in the town centre.

A college spokesman said: “The Junior Performance Academy summer school will develop your skills in singing, dancing and acting.

“The Junior Performance Academy summer school will develop your skills in singing, dancing and acting.

“You’ll work towards performing the junior version of Matilda, an adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel about a gifted girl forced to put up with crude parents, who then develops telekinetic powers and seeks revenge on her unkind parents.

“Then you will have the unique opportunity to perform the musical to an audience at Rotherham College’s Studio Theatre.

“The Junior Arts Academy summer school will cultivate your skills in painting, print making and 2D Design.

“Experienced professionals will help you explore a range of art disciplines and produce work which will be exhibited in the college’s art gallery from August 27.”
