Brinsworth gears up for carnival

ALL the fun of the fair will be on offer for visitors to a village’s summer celebration this weekend.

Brinsworth will hold its first summer fair from 10am on Saturday alongside the annual car boot sale.

Visitors to Brinsworth Comprehensive School can look forward to a range of activities, including a climbing wall, bungee run, bouncy castle and a football penalty shootout game.

Police and fire officers will be present, as well as members of the village’s local history group, while live music will be provided by local bands and students from the school choir.

Year 7 students will be taking part in a cricket tournament and The Mayor of Rotherham,

Cllr Rose McNeely, will be on hand to present the winning team with their medals. 

School administrator Sharon Newton said: “We are hoping that this event will be extremely successful and we are very excited that the whole of the community can have an opportunity to come together and enjoy a fun day at school.

“We will also have our hairdressing salon open for clients who would like a wash and blow dry and our horticulture students will be on hand to show and sell some of the produce they have successfully grown over the last year.”

The fun starts at 10am and goes on until 3pm.
