Awards celebrates live music in the Dearne

The Imperial Acoustic Open Mic evening came second in the Outstanding Open Mic 2016 category at the Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards at the Marsden Mechanics in Huddersfield on Sunday.

John Hessian, who co-organises the weekly Thursday evening sessions at the Imperial Club in Mexborough, said: “These awards cover the whole of Yorkshire so it is a great achievement to come second.

“We were up against stiff competition from some great open mics.

“Many congratulations to the winners and all the other nominees.”

The Imperial is holding a Grassroots Awards session at 8pm tonight (13) to celebrate.
