A goose is for life, says theatre company

A THEATRE company is promoting its winter show with an unusual message - Save a Goose!

SAVE a goose for Christmas!

That was the unusual message from a theatre company as it chose a novel way of promoting its winter show.

The kids of Handsworth and Hallam Theatre Company (pictured), who rehearse at St Ann’s School in Rotherham, have grown fond of Percilla the Goose, their leading character in Mother Goose.

So much so, according to publicity officer Danni Birks: “They have decided that a goose is for life not just Christmas.”

Caitlan Trotter, who is appearing in the production, came up with the wonderful idea to have a collection at rehearsals to sponsor a goose at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, for a year, giving it safety over Christmas so that did not end up on the dinner table.

They have renamed the goose Percilla after the beloved character in the show.

HHTC are breaking the dage of never working with children or animals by including 30 children and a goose (played by company member Josh Holiday) on stage.
