300 people view young Wath artists’ exhibition

AN art competition was hailed a huge success after 300 people flocked to see young artists’ creative efforts.

The exhibition at Wath Hall featured work by children from Wath Victoria, Our Lady and Saint Joseph's and Wath CoE primary schools, the 6th Wath Saint James scout group, Wath All Saint’s Sunday school and individual artists both young and older.

The winner of the “Best picture of Wath Hall” prize in the age six and under category was Joshua Jones from Wath CoE Primary.

He was s presented with his prize, donated by Tesco, by the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Eve Rose Keenan.

Ray Lewis, volunteer curator of the exhibition, said: “'It was a brilliant day with lots of people coming into the hall to view the fabulous artwork created by local children.

“Wath Hall Limited charity raised over £200 through the hard work of the volunteers.

“Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the day such a success. “We are already planning the next children's exhibition for 2018, to give more children the opportunity to have their artwork appreciated.”
