AN all-action girl with a passion for sport is heading into the latter stages of a national beauty pageant.

Isabella Parry is more at home climbing rock faces in the Peak District or practising her life saving techniques in the swimming pool than having her photo taken but the 15-year-old from Broom has made it through to the semi-final of Miss Teen Queen UK.

The Sheffield Girls High School pupil was invited to enter the competition while visiting Clothes Show Live, in Birmingham, last year and now needs public votes to reach the national final.

The beauty pageant final is due to be held later this year and Isabella will be up against other girls from all around the UK that have been whittled down from over 19,000 entrants.

Isabella's mum, Sandra, said: “We travelled down to London on Isabella’s birthday where she met other girls and had lots of photographs taken. It is now all down to the public voting by text message.

“She has never talked about modelling — she’s a bit of an all-action girl, truth told — but this has been a great boost to her confidence and she’s really enjoyed it.”

Isabella, who has represented South Yorkshire at badminton, is a keen extreme climber and is a member of Rawmarsh Life Saving Club, said: “It has been a great experience so far and it would be a dream if I was successful to represent my school and home town.”

Her dad Steve, who played professional football with Barnsley FC, said: “After entering the competition for fun, she is really excited to have made it through to the semi-final.

“She has done really well and reaching the final would be a great achievement.”
Miss Teen Queen UK has now reached the text voting stage. To vote for Isabella text TQ84 to 81319 before 11.30pm on April 30.

Text messages are charged at 75p plus your standard network rate.
