HIP, hip, hooray! Rotherham youngster Georgia-Mae Forster gave a winning performance at a top cheer-leading competition.

Georgia-Mae, who attends Wickersley School and Sports College, was crowned champion in the individual section of the Northern Region’s Cheer and Dance Championship in Blackpool.

Georgia-Mae (13), who trains with the WSA Wild Spirit Allstars in Sheffield,  took the title despite tough competition from the current European champions and many other elite clubs.

Five other Rotherham girls also took part in the competition.

Gina Williams, Ellie Forster and Sophie Wilson competed in the Senior team Pom dance section and, after a near-faultless routine, came third.

Ellie Forster, Georgia-Mae Forster, Rebecca Philips and Millie Downing came second in the Junior Cheerleading competition while Ellie and Sophie Wilson also competed in the senior level group stunt—a five-person stunt event — and came second.

All girls are looking forward to their next competition in Manchester in March at the Velodrome where over 3000 cheerleaders will be in action.
