Details of this year’s remembrance events have been finalised – with a gathering rather than parade.

And the branch has used the opportunity to appeal for more members of the public to help it continue its work helping serving members and veterans of the armed forces in our area.

Anyone who would like more information can call or leave a message with branch president Enis Bettney on 07958 239405. Alternatively, pass your contact details to one of the RBL poppy sellers you see out and about.

The Remembrance Sunday service will take place on Sunday, November 12, at the war memorial in Castle Hills Park on Doncaster Road, Mexborough, from 10.30am.

Branch spokesperson Frank Knapton said: “Advice from the Royal British Legion headquarters is that the usual marching parades on public roads should not now take place, for health and safety reasons, so our usual march from the Mexborough police station, along Doncaster Road, towards the Castle Hills war memorial will not take place.”

A short event will mark Armistice Day at 11am on Sunday, November 11, at the entrance to the York Square and outdoor market.
