Award on the Horizon for Rotherham rockers
Bring Me The Horizon (pictured), whose number include former Rotherham College students Matt Nicholls on drums and Lee Malia on guitar, will receive a special award: the NME Innovation Award at the NME Awards at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 17.
They are also set to thrill fans with live performance.
The award recognises BMTH’s successful bid to revive and reinvent modern rock music, drawing on influences as diverse as metal, hardcore, electronica and classical music.

Singer Oli Sykes said: “We are extremely excited to be invited to play the awards.
“This year is full of new experiences, and us playing outside of our comfort zones.
“This is no exception and we couldn't be more up for it.”
Mike Williams, editor-in-chief of NME says: "Awarding Bring Me The Horizon with this year’s Innovation Award was a complete no brainer for NME.
“Their live shows are absolutely mind-blowing and as a band, they have an incredible amount of creative energy.

“This sees them innovate time and time again, crossing over from the metal world into the mainstream whilst retaining what made them great in the first place.”
BMTH will also play their first arena tour for in the autmun, plus a one-off show at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall in April, for a set complete with full orchestral backing, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
