'Players raring to go' says Redfearn

MANAGER Neil Redfearn expects his players to come out firing when Rotherham United launch into a new era at Brentford tomorrow.

Since being installed in the hot seat on Monday, Redfearn has overseen some sharp training sessions as individuals try to impress.

He's also promised that every squad member will be given a chance to show they should be part of the club's future before he considers bringing in reinforcements.

It's a tough baptism, with tomorrow's trip the start of a run of three matches in seven days which continues at home to Reading on Tuesday and then against Sheffield Wednesday in front of the Sky cameras at the AESSEAL New York Stadium next Friday night.

And although the Millers remain in a perilous position above the drop zone, Redfearn says there's Championship qualities about the group he's inherited from Steve Evans and wants them to prove it.

“The lads have looked sharp this week, they've had a bit of a break and they're really champing at the bit,” he told the Advertiser.

“I do think there's Championship material about us, there’s no two ways about that, but what it needs now is a little bit of stability because there's been a lot of changes here.

“Everyone at this club has a clean start. I want to be right with these lads and give them the opportunity to show they can do it."
