9TH ROTHERHAM SCOUT GROUP: The beavers have been working on their Autumn theme – drawing different shaped leaves which had fallen from trees in the local park. The conker competition is under way. The girls competition was held and the winner was Imogen Harries with Hannah Senior runner-up. The boys will hold theirs soon. Cubs have been busy learning knots. The scouts have been continuing work on their Personal Challenge Award. The group – beavers, cubs and scouts - opened the new Aldi Store in Parkgate last week. Ben Frost cut the ribbon at the opening. Aldi presented the group scout leader a cheque and some Halloween items for the group. The Halloween party will be held on October 29 at the headquarters. There are roadworks outside the headquarters for the next three weeks. 

 

THE HIGH STREET CENTRE: Beginning November 5 there will be a new session which will run weekly for four weeks called Planning Play Activities with Children. It will run 11am-1pm, booking essential. Starting on November 6 there will be a new drop-in and job support session 10am-noon. There is no need to book. It will run until Christmas. Contact 01709 719478.

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSES: There are two courses running at The High Street Centre on November 3. One is noon-3pm and the other 4-7pm. Booking essential and must be made before October 23. Contact 01709 719478.

 

RAWMARSH CHORAL SOCIETY FASHION SHOW: At The High Street Centre on October 23 7.15pm for 7.30pm start. The fashions are from Tracey Ryan of Swinton. Admission £2. Items purchased must have a cash deposit paid on the night and the balance paid before collection.

 

ST NICOLAS MOTHERS’ UNION: Peter Fenner officiated at mass prior to the recent meeting. Police chaplain Rev Alison Earl gave a talk to the group on the situations that a police chaplain can become involved in. The raffle winner this month was Iris Davis.
