Chaplaincy service set up at Thomas Rotherham College

A COLLEGE has provided a listening ear by setting up its own chaplaincy service.

Thomas Rotherham College’s multi-faith chaplaincy aims to give students and staff of different religious denominations — and those who or not religious —the chance to talk about what is on their minds.

TRC vice-principal Tony Dowling said: “Our students have reached a stage of their lives where they are transitioning into adulthood.

“As a result, many of them have more questions than answers.

“The chaplaincy is therefore available to them so that they can explore issues relating to the personal and spiritual well-being of our students.

“At a time of scarce resources, this has been made possible due to the willingness of local religious representatives being prepared to provide personnel, training and financial resources in order to get this initiative off the ground.”

The team of chaplains representing Christian and Muslim faiths is led by Methodist minister Rev Joanne Siddall and supported by Mariam Shah.
