Woman hit by lamp post at Swinton railway station

A WOMAN had to be taken to hospital after a lamp post fell onto her at Swinton railway station.

Emergency services were called to the station on Wednesday morning.

A spokeswoman for Northern Rail, who run the station, there would be an investigation into the incident.

She added: “We can confirm there was an incident involving a customer on the platform at Swinton station. Following first aid, the ambulance service transferred the customer to Rotherham Hospital and we understand she has since been discharged.

"We wish her a speedy recovery and will be launching a full investigation into this incident.”
