Wath paedophile faces lengthy prison sentence

Russell Duffy (61), of Nicholson Avenue, Wath, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on today charged with 19 sex offences, all against one girl between 1983 and 1989 when she was 11 years-old and under.

Duffy pleaded guilty to ten of the offences which included six counts of indecent assault and four counts of indecency with a child.

The court heard Duffy forced the girl to perform oral sex on him when she was aged between seven and 11 years-old.

He also admitted to lying on the girl and rubbing his body up and down her, and forcing her to masturbate him.

His Honour Judge Mark Gargan told Duffy: “You have now pleaded guilty to a series of very significant criminal offences.

“For these offences you will have to be sentenced and you know full well that the inevitable sentence will involve a lengthy period of imprisonment.”

Sentencing was adjourned until February 25 and Duffy was granted unconditional bail.
