Millers fans raise £1,000 in support of Neil Warnock’s wife’s battle with cancer

KIND-HEARTED Rotherham United fans have raised more than £1,000 for charity in support of manager Neil Warnock’s wife Sharon’s ongoing battle with breast cancer.

Millers supporters Laura Billington and John Nixon started the fund-raising to thank Sharon for allowing Neil to take the hotseat at the New York Stadium earlier this year.

Laura and John presented a cheque to Neil before the club’s trip to Hull City for their final game of the season on Saturday.

Sharon said she will donate the money to a breast cancer charity.

Neil said: “The fans have been superb since my arrival both on and off the pitch and the kindness that they have shown myself and Sharon has been truly heartfelt.

“I passed the cheque on to Sharon at the weekend and she was really touched that the money had been raised in her name.

“She is having her last bout of chemotherapy today and she told me how pleased she was that such a substantial amount had been raised.”

A spokesman for the Millers also thanked supporters for their support.
