Expo to encourage new businesses

SOUTH Yorkshire will host one of nine satellite events as a major business event kicks off on Saturday.

More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the ten Startup 2016 events, including the main expo at KPMG’s London offices.

Talks will be streamed to the simultaneous satellite events, including at the Digital Media Centre, on County Way in Barnsley, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.

Emma Jones, founder of organisers Enterprise Nation, said: “Every minute a business is started in Britain. Last year more than half a million new companies were registered.

“Becoming your own boss can be satisfying and rewarding on so many levels. This event is aimed at helping those with dreams of starting up to pick up practical advice.”

Research from national enterprise campaign StartUp Britain showed a record-breaking 608,110 businesses were registered in the UK in 2015.
