Three women dead after three vehicle crash

The women, from Doncaster, were travelling in a red Toyota Aygo along Tickhill Road in the direction towards Maltby at around 5.30pm yesterday.

At the same time, a 28-year-old man driving a black Ford Focus was travelling in the opposite direction on Tickhill Road, towards Tickhill.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Close to the entrance with Maltby colliery, the two cars and a van, believed to have been leaving the colliery, were involved in a collision.

“The female driver of the Aygo, aged 58-years-old, and the two female passengers in the car aged 66 and 76, all sustained fatal injuries.

“The driver of the Focus was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The male driver of the van was not injured.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have information is asked to call the police on 101 quoting incident number 913 of November 26.
