Three held over attempted bank raid

TWO men and a woman are being questioned by detectives on suspicion of being involved in an attempted armed robbery at a bank.

Two men, aged 36 and 26, and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of robbery following the raid at Yorkshire Bank, Parkgate on Friday.

A 52-year-old man and a 39-year-old, who were also arrested in connection with the incident over the weekend, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Two masked men entered the bank, on Broad Street, at around 8.50am on Friday.

They said the duo - who were brandishing shotguns - assaulted a worker at the bank before fleeing the scene in a suspected stolen car and colliding with a pedestrian on Rawmarsh Hill.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the raid.
