Police appeal for help after four-vehicle arson spree

POLICE investigating a spate of arson attacks in Wath are appealing to the public for help.

The incidents happened during the early hours of yesterday morning.

In the space of 15-minutes from 1.50am to 2.05am four vehicles were set on fire – an unattended police car on Church Street, a Citroen Berlingo van on Valley Drive, a Ford Transit van on Vicar Road and a Mercedes A140 on Montgomery Square.

The Fire Service extinguished the fires but all the vehicles sustained extensive damage and are irreparable.

A number of enquiries have been conducted and officers are following up on several leads as part of the investigation. Extra high visibility patrols are also taking place in the area.
