Suspected shoplifter 'pulled knife on security guard'

The 40-year-old woman was stopped by security staff outside the Marks and Spencer store at Parkgate Shopping Park at around 12.20pm this afternoon (Friday).

A police spokesman said she then threatened the security guard with a Stanley knife before running off.

Police officers gave chase and arrested the woman on suspicion of theft, affray and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

She remains in police custody.
