INSPECTORS highlighted the staff’s “resilience” when they gave Kilnhurst Primary a “good” score for overall   effectiveness.

In the first inspection since the Covid pandemic, the school’s classrooms were described as “calm and settled” in the report, which added that “bullying is rare”.

Reading, according to the report, “has a high priority” and continues to play an important role as pupils progress through school.

Staff were celebrated once again when the inspectors declared that “if a pupil starts to fall behind, this is picked up immediately and effective support is given”.

Safeguarding was also found to be “effective”.

One area highlighted as a field to approve on was attendance, as the report said some pupils miss “too many days”.

However, Ofsted note that staff were aware of this and had put a “revised strategy” in to improve attendance and punctuality.

Also, the school’s curriculum in science and history was said to need a revamp as at times “pupils are faced with too much information”.

All in all, Kilnhurst Primary received good scores in all points, from the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes and personal development to leadership and management and early years provision.
