Way forward for Maltby Town Council

Dear Sir, You will by now received your report from your Maltby correspondent which will contain his report on the Maltby Town Council meeting on Thursday, September 10.

What Maltby people do not know is that a feeling of mistrust still exssts between the different factions on the council and that a report commissioned by RMBC at the request of the Standards Board of England, which is an independent body to try and sort things out, does seem to be working.

One of the recommendations was to arrange a process of conflict resolution for council members and to address underlying issues.

Considering several members of the council do not accept this document there seems little chance of any recommendations being followed.

Also the behaviour of some senior councillors is appalling, considering they have been on such bodies some considerable time. Pointing of fingers, talking over people when they are speaking and being generally rude.

There was also a vote of no confidence in the present chairman, which was carried by the council and when asked if she would stand down she replied 'no.'

This is from someone who wanted to get rid of the council and would not sign a document to commit to the council when this document was passed round some time ago.

I did ask some councillors if this is how transparent and honest they will be come next year's council elections.

One of the other things in the mesh report was to have hustings before the election which would be a good thing.

Maybe then the people of Maltby will get a council which will act for them. It is a shame for the councillors who do a good job for the people of Maltby as there are some on the council who do.
