Resistant to change

Sir—There is an old adage that you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink!

Last week the Conservative councillors on Rotherham Borough Council introduced a motion at the council asking for a new approach to attracting people into Rotherham.

This would include a new parking policy and a plan to use the site of the old All Saints’ Building as a temporary free car park. This was a chance to open up a new era of prosperity for Rotherham.

I was very sorry to hear that the motion was defeated.

I can't believe that the Labour-controlled council missed the opportunity to work with the Conservative group on such an important initiative and I have to say I felt utter despair when I heard that rather than take the hoardings down and do something positive with the site, that a decision was made to alter the adverts that appear on them instead.

Why is this council so unresponsive to change? Or is it because it wasn't their idea? It is time for change!
