LETTER: Time to stamp it out

I WONDER how many people notice whether their post has been officially franked or the stamps crossed out with a Biro or felt pen?

I am not saying it happens in Rotherham, but I regularly receive post from the London area, where the stamps are crossed out.

I am not now a stamp collector, although I do buy official ‘first day covers’, but for people who collect stamps and Post Office memorabilia, it must be frustrating and annoying, if not infuriating.

This also applies to people who fail to clear up their dog mess which I notice when going shopping on foot.
