Letter: Thanks for right royal care home party

THE Beeches care home at Wath held a royal afternoon tea party today for the Queen’s 90th birthday and can you believe it some people who live on Beech Road complained that the music was too loud.

One said he was trying to get some sleep as he was on nights and another said it had woken her baby up and the manager even got a phone call from the environmental health! The music was playing for just over an hour and the 70, 80 and 90-year-old residents loved it, they were able to sit in the garden in the sunshine and they were singing along, clapping and up dancing (shuffling).

My mum’s a frail 85-year-old whose first stroke ten years ago took her voice but she was humming along and had a smile all the way through. It was lovely memory spoilt because of these complaints.

The staff had put a lot of work into making crowns for the residents to wear ,putting balloons and bunting up, making sure the residents were safe in the garden and doing a lovely tea. It started at 2:30pm and was over by 4:30pm, just two hours in the sunshine getting some fresh air sat with their families. Unbelievable, it’s not as though it’s every week, it’s once or twice a year.

I’d like to say a very big thank you to all the staff at the Beeches for everything they do.

S Peat, Brampton Bierlow, Rotherham
