Letter: Remembering old Wickersley

WHEN I was about 15 years old I remember walking through the church fields at Wickersley (now the Tanyard).

It was drawn in great detail and adorned the front cover of the parish magazine. One of the sons of the Moss family drew it.

Village life revolved around the church in those days, and I remember as a much younger child attending a church garden party which was held in the grounds of the Moss mansion, Mrs Moss sitting under a shady tree looking like a “Floradora” lady in her long floaty dress and picture hat. Now the grounds and mansion have become Moss Close.

Happy Memories
