LETTER: Hospital stairs ridiculous

YESTERDAY, I visited Rotherham Hospital for an appointment.

I got off the bus across the road, to find I had to climb some steep stairs to get to the main entrance. I couldn’t manage them, I get tired easily. So I and an old couple, had to walk around buildings to get to the entrance on an incline, only to find the side entrance closed off.

I feel lucky I can walk. But so many others have to struggle just to get in the place. There seems to have been no thought for the disabled and old people. I have never known something so daft.

This is a hospital for sick people for goodness. I mentioned it to reception, they told me noone else has complained. I’m sure many others feel as I do, and experience the same difficulty.

The way the hospital has been throwing money around lately, I’m sure they could fix the problem. Patient care should be the main priority. A little more thought on such issues goes without saying.
