LETTER: Green space already under threat without fracking
Our green belt at Bassingthorpe Farm has already been sacrificed to developers. The area is subject to flooding with some properties also suffering subsidence due to previous mining.
Fracking involving the use underground of vast amounts of water under high pressure can only exacerbate existing problems. Indeed I had not anticipated spending my last days in Australia.

Hide AdThere is the rubbish tip in the Carr House area plus chemical and other factories which resulted in historic underground burial of and hitherto undisturbed toxic waste. What next? A wind farm in Greasbro’ park maybe or nuclear waste storing in Bradgate Park. One could be forgiven for believing that there is a vendetta being waged against Greasbrough in particular and Rotherham in General.
I do hope that the people of the borough plus our council representatives and MPs will join in fighting against this further despoiling of our environment.
