Don't believe those with vested interests over climate change

Sir, I apologise, I know you must be getting a bit bored with this. Mr Garbutt makes a key point; don’t believe politicians and other groups who have vested interests in progressing this cause.

It would be useful for people posting to reference their claims so that they can be reviewed and questioned.

With reference to Peter’s claim on Global Temps – please visit Dr Roy Spencer’s site - PHD, ex-NASA (another scientist) you can view the global temperatures back to 1979 and make your own mind up. 1979 is since we had satellite temperature measurement. www.drroyspencer.com/latest-global-temperatures/ 2010 has indeed been warm globally so far.

There is a well understood reason for this (nothing to do with CO2 it’s called El Nino) and we are already on the way back down.

It’s unlikely that this year will be hotter than 1998 – strange that, given we have continued to pump out ever increasing amounts of co2 since that time.

Overall the next 12-24 months are lining up to be an interesting time for those insistent that CO2 is the main driver.

Not much of a record though is it around 130 years of data? – Only 30 years if we are talking satellite measurements.

There must therefore be doubt, unless of course you choose simply to ignore previous warm periods.

Finally, and I promise finally. What If CO2 is not the catastrophic game changer that was predicted? What if we are hamstringing our energy policy, spending billions on inefficient systems that might not meet our needs when we need them most while inflating energy prices now?
